EXERCISE DELIVERY AND DEVELOPMENT
Background Organisations of all sizes and sectors are increasingly at risk of disruption from terrorism, floods, pandemics, power failures, security incidents, technological disruptions and data disasters. Business Continuity and IT Service Continuity methods were developed as a response to such threats and many others, including minor day-day incidents, impacting business life, that may have a serious cumulative effect. "Exercise Delivery and Development" is the ideal training course for those involved in Business Continuity and IT Service Continuity wishing to enhance their expertise in exercising plans and responses. We would expect delegates to have a good knowledge of Business Continuity or IT Service Continuity Management and to have attended a suitable foundation course e.g. Automata's Business Continuity Masterclass or IT Service Continuity course.
Objectives
To ensure you and other delegates gain an in depth understanding of how to deliver various categories of exercise and to undertake associated development activities to ensure they are realistic and successful. Levels covered will include Desktop, Walkthrough, Simulation, Function and Full plan methods.
Content Through an enjoyable combination of case studies, group work and presentations during this interactive course we will cover:
- “kicking-off” an exercise by giving participants hints and tips to help them along as well as explaining the rules which control or limit their actions.
- the manner of delivery, including coordination of the various activities involved and maintaining control across an event spanning a number of locations
- developing realistic exercise scripts and “injects” to ensure all required components of a business continuity programme are involved
- ensuring safety & security including isolation for a safe learning environment and security measures for the protection of the participants and the business
- capturing careful observations of the participants’ performance and providing quality feedback to reinforce the lessons learned
- recording the full event history for review purposes and formal reporting in order to derive maximum benefit and awareness.
Venue

This exclusive course is held at Whittlebury Hall in the beautiful Northamptonshire countryside. The centre features a swimming pool, spa, sauna and gym. Inside there is a games bar and outdoors there are tennis courts and jogging trails. Each bedroom is designed to be a home from home for you to work, network and relax.

Lecturer Practitioners
Either Garry Poole or Jim Burtles will lead you and other delegates through this highly informative course. Both Garry and Jim are Fellows of the BCI, were founder members of the Institute and have worked with major organisations across the globe. Garry was a UK Business Continuity Manager of the Year (Corporate Insurance & Risk Magazine) and subsequently global BCM director of a major telecommunications company. Jim served as BCI standards officer for six years and is currently an elected BCI Board member.

Accommodation
